Ma Maison Tonkatsu

The Ma Maison restaurant group in Singapore has a sister shop called Ma Maison Tonkatsu restaurant which specializes in tonkatsu cuisine. What is more interesting is that they have a special halloween theme during end of October. We just happened to visit their for dinner. Every waitreess dress in costume.

Cafe l'Operetta

In the old Malay style two story shop rows in the Duxton Road area, just beside the lobby of the Berjaya Hotel Singapore, there is this French-Japanese fusion cafe restraunt specializing in Bistro and Desert.

Blue Ginger

My local friend took us here when our classmates from Europe came over to Singapore for a little reunion. As our guest wanted to try the local food, in a rather classy venue, my friend selected this restautrant in 97 Tanjong Pagar Road, near Tanjong Pagar MRT station.

Unfortunately, I do not have my photo for the menu so copied from their URL:

Paul

One of my favorite French bakery shop that I would drop by when I was living in Tokyo and London is finally open in Singapore at Ngee An City, next to Takashimaya, on the same level as the mega bookstore Kinokuniya. The eat in is very popular, therefore, could not try out but tried the take away counter for some loaves of bread including the mini croissant (chocolate and plain). Hmm yummy!

Tonkotsu Ramen in locally run Japanese noodle shop

Near my office, in China Court, there is this noodle shop called 別府麺館 (Beppu Noodle House), seemingly named after a famous hot springs resort in Kyushu. I was just craving for a quick Ramen in a reasonable price and found one below $10. Taste and amount is so so... Therefore I suggest if going only if you are compromising with localized so call Japanese Ranen.

Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant (M Hotel)

My client took me to this restaurant for business lunch. As he briefly explains, this looks like one of those Japanese Expats' favorite type of restaurant for off site get together luncheon venue. The sets are priced around 24.90SGD for lunch sets. The Sushi is definitely worth the price as this place is run by a seafood import company.

Typical set menu of Korean/Japanese dish in hawkers

This Saba (Mackerel) set menu in this hawker centre in Commonwealth MRT area costs only $5. Quite reasonable cost for the whole set of Saba. If you go to Japanese owned chain store, this would easily cost $10.
