Ma Maison (Japanese style western restaurant)

As Hong Kong has its version of western food, so does the Japanese. I would proudly like to present you this "Japanese style" western food restaurant. They have my favorite typical Hamburg set lunch, fish fry set etc which comes with soup appetizer, rice or bread and a choice of coffee or tea either hot or cold. You can find this "ma maison" either in Bugis Junction, Central, or Parco in Millennia Walk. Their sister branch, which serves Tonkatsu is located in Orchard, but I will talk about them in other occasion.

Nanja Monja (Japanese Pancake or "Okonomiyaki")

Run by the three sisters, this restaurant offers lots of Japanese pancakes or Okonomiyaki and Monjayaki. The restaurant is on the ground floor of Copthorne hotel along Havelock Road and is attracting lots of Japanese locals.

Spruce (Cozy Western restaurant along Tanglin Road)

This is one of the best and closest restaurant, we often drop by once in a while.
Spruce, is owned by this French chef who offers an affordable but good mix of contemporary Western food, possibly a mix of French and Australian. It is located just one road inside from Tanglin Road. This place is very popular so make sure you book beforehand.

Lawrys restaurant

Surprisingly this restaurant seem to be a hidden popular venue for birthday party for adults. I encountered two groups sitting aside us on one afternoon when we sit for afternoon tea. This costs SGD 15.00 per head which comes with appetizer and main plate and your choice of drink. Quite reasonable price considering the atmosphere and hospitality.

Old town style food court

I have been to many kind of old style renovated restaurant around the world but never been one in Singapore until I visited this place on the ground level of Singapore Flyer.

No Signboard

The famous chili crab shop in Singapore in Geilang. The shop looks less sophisticated, but nevertheless serves the same food.

Level 33

As the name of the restaurant rightfully expresses, the shop is located on the 33th floor of Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower A. It not only serves the finest view, but also great variety of beer. In lunchtime it offers a set menu with salad bar.

Traditional Japanese style toilet in Great World City of Singapore?

It is not that you need to crouch down to finish your business. All wall painting is Ukuyoe 浮世絵. You can find this in Great World City 3F.

Japanese "family restaurant" in JAS

One of the popular and the only reasonably priced Japanese restaurant is "Donguri" in Japanese Association in Singapore at Adam Road, just out of southward exit from PIE.
They have ramen, curry rice, set lunch and dinner and a easy buffet in dinner time. The food they present reminds me of the typical family restaurant or "famiresu" in Japan. Concept is not too expensive affordable for average family outings. the payment is all billed monthly for members but do not know how it works for non-members.

The photo is a miso ramen ordered for lunch.
